The Chevy Vortec head is an excellent choice for a variety of race applications. Just make sure you spend your hard-earned money wisely by getting the best flowing Vortec heads available. If you are serious about running up-front, we have an excellent supply of ‘906 and early Canada ‘062 Vortec cores that will give you a winning horsepower advantage over the '062 Mexican castings. The ‘906 & early Canada ‘062 Vortec heads work especially well on limited valve lift applications. The bottom line is this: Running the early Canada ‘062 or ‘906 castings will give you a huge horsepower advantage.
Cast Iron Intake Manifolds for the Vortec Heads
To use a conventional bolt pattern, passenger car cast iron intake manifold on Vortec heads, the intake pattern on the Vortec head must be changed. This is our labor operation #410-AX. Good News! We do have performance, high-rise cast iron intakes in 2 and 4 barrel that will bolt on to the Vortec head. Our #201V-M is a performance, cast iron 2 barrel intake.
